Chlorophyll and Your Very Good Health

In the early part of the last century, chlorophyll was considered an important medicinal tool in the remedying of many common health complaints. At the time it was in widespread use for pain relief, ulcers, skin disorders and even as a breath freshener.

Sadly, in the years following World War Two, the rise of the financially powerful pharmaceutical corporations saw medicine detour along the drug/chemical route and chlorophyll meet the same fate as so many other remedies provided by naturerom the nutrapharmacy: it was replaced by chemical antiseptics.

It is gratifying then to discover that as the pharmaceutical Dark Age begins to yield to a new enlightenment, chlorophyll is making a comeback. Renewed interest in it is most definitely justified and it is worth taking a brief look at what it is and what it can do for you.

Chlorophyll is a pigment, specifically the green pigment that gives leaves, seaweed, algae, spinach. Broccoli and so forth their color.

Chlorophyll is very similar in its molecular structure to heme, the red oxygen-carrying pigment in our blood. The difference between them is that the heme molecule contains the element iron at its centre, whereas the chlorophyll molecule, also an oxygen-carrier contains magnesium. Chlorophyll is a powerful oxy-generator for human beings: its assimilation through the ingestion of plants that contain it enables oxygen to be efficiently taken up by the blood cells.

Without sufficient oxygen we become sluggish and low in energy and the metabolism becomes slow. The 1931 Nobel Prize Winner for physiology and medicine, Dr Otto Warburg, established that oxygen-deprivation was a major cause of cancer.

It is not for nothing then that we are told “eat your greens.” It is very sound advice indeed because as a general rule, the greener the plant, the richer it is in the oxygen-carrier, chlorophyll.

Chlorophyll’s benefits to your health are many: pain relief, ulcers, skin disorders, freshening the breath and helping your body obtain more oxygen as discussed above, plus aiding the health of your digestive system; acting as an anti-inflammatory and anti-septic; preventing infection; accelerating the healing of wounds; minimizing the damaging effects on the body of pollutants and so on.

It not only combats bad breath but does the same with body odour, acting as a kind of deodorant for your inner organs.

The biochemist Lita Lee, PhD., pointed out: “Chlorophyll appears to stimulate the regeneration of damaged liver cells, and increases the circulation to all organs by dilating blood vessels. In the heart chlorophyll aids in the transmission of nerve impulses that control contraction. The heart rate is slowed, yet each contraction is increased in power, improving the efficiency of cardiac power.”

Chlorophyll also evidently helps to balance the body’s alkalinity and reduce acidity. There are many influences that can make your body acidic: stress, excess protein and fat, for example, and when your system becomes even slightly acidic, the risk of disease is significantly raised.

There appears to be a link between this excess acidity brought about by ingesting too much protein and osteoporosis. The acidity causes calcium to be utilized to buffer the acid. The calcium is taken from the bones and then lost to the body in the urine.

Therefore, eating food rich in chlorophyll has the added benefit of correcting excess acidity and thus reducing the incidence of ill healthy and osteoporosis.

There is another advantage that ingesting chlorophyll has over pharmaceutical treatments: the environment is not polluted in its manufacture and it is food and thus part of the organism’s natural evolution. Therefore, chlorophyll does not act upon the organism like a pollutant, suppressing one symptom at the cost of throwing the body’s systems out of whack and causing a knock-on effect of adverse complications elsewhere.

In short, chlorophyll is damned good for you and you would be wise to eat lots of foods that contain it; particularly green vegetables such as broccoli and spinach and sea-greens such as seaweed and algae.

Wild blue-green algae is a higher source of chlorophyll than any other plant or algae and herein lies yet another very strong argument for the health benefits of including the algae in your diet in the form of a supplement.

Advantages of Having a Personalized Healthy Eating Plan

Many people abstain from following a healthy eating diet because the advantages are not recognized and they remain unaware of the good that they can do their body. There is no doubt about the fact that many out there believe that having a healthy diet plan may only prolong your life for a bit whilst managing to torture you by denying you the fatty foods. Needless to say, in order to be able to totally overhaul your diet in order to make yourself healthy, you need to know the massive benefits of a healthy eating diet. As previously mentioned, the advantages of healthy eating far outweigh the pleasures derived from indulging in having junk food. According to scientific studies, the energy levels that you achieve from a healthy diet are phenomenal and the body can easily use the energy to carry out all the necessary functions. On the other hand, consuming unhealthy food items leads to sluggishness and inactivity as the nutrients are missing from the food and hence, the energy levels remain way down.

Feeling your energy levels surge upwards is surely worth giving up a muffin for a dance, a swim or a play of basketball anytime. When you read “The China Study” by Dr. Campbell you will realize how the standard American diseases are the outcome of the standard American diet. The fact that so many diseases are linked to unhealthy eating makes it reason enough for you to give it up. Deadly diseases like diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular problems, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, premature aging and most modern ones trace back to the shunning of a healthy eating diet. According to the World Cancer Research Fund and American Institute for Cancer Research, there is a significant relationship between the kind of food consumption and cancer prevention. Medical science continues to reinforce the importance of having an active lifestyle and following well-suited healthy diet plans.

The maintenance of a healthy eating diet coupled with exercises is indisputable prerequisites for the prevention of a host of diseases proven by scientific research. As per the report compiled by the World Health Organization: unhealthy diets contribute to 2.7 million deaths annually, cause 19% of the gastrointestinal cancer, 11% of strokes and 31% of heart disease. Thus by adopting healthy diet plans, you are essentially eliminating a preventable cause of death. In addition, good healthy eating diet will enable you to effectively be the right weight instead of being over or under weight which is the major problem faced by millions of people. Not only will you be the right size and shape but a healthy diet will also allow you to take in the necessary nutrients that are essential in the functioning of the brain. According to the American Heart Association a healthy eating diet comprises of food items from the following food groups in measured proportions: fruits, vegetables, cereals, dairy and poultry, fish and meat products. It only makes sense to include those foods in your diet that give the body maximum benefits and block the toxic buildup in the body.

Travel Insurance Is a Vital Part of Travel Planning

What would you do if you sustained two broken arms in a fall from a high plain while traveling abroad? If this happened during your holiday in a third world country, your trip would be turned into an adventure. You also would be grateful for having purchased travel insurance before you left home.

Reaching medical care in a third-world country could require days of walking followed by additional time driving. Arrival at the hospital wouldn’t be the end of the ordeal; most likely, you would need to find a local teenager to pay for bringing you food and painkillers obtained from local merchants. Many hospitals in third-world countries often do not supply these items for their patients.

If you required an operation, it would be a risky prospect to rely on the hospital’s methods of sterilization and anesthesia administration. It may end up costing your only $100 cash for the hospital care and having your broken arms set in casts. Once your arms had been taken care of, you would most likely do all that you can to get home as soon as possible.

Private insurance, under these circumstances, may cover up to four operations and six months of physical therapy. Without insurance, you would probably get no additional treatment options. The further you travel from home, the less likely medical care would be available and modern, therefore, the more you need travel insurance.

There are a couple of ways that you might can get travel insurance, the first being through a private health care provider, and the second being that it might be combined with the coverage that you get for trip cancellation. Rates are often based on a set fee per every $100 of coverage, however the policies will vary widely.

Most often, travel insurance is purchased by the elderly who are concerned they’ll need medical care for existing health problems while abroad or may have to cancel their trip because of illness. Some insurers may cover care overseas, but Medicare does not. Medicare is the main health care insurer when it comes to senior citizens.

Tourists are often required to pay by cash, credit card or traveler’s check for hospital care. This is okay if you need to pay for something as small as stitches, but when it comes to paying for a larger operation, it would be beneficial to have travel insurance. If you suffer an accident or illness requiring more extensive care, travel insurance becomes much more important.

Travel insurance is provided by the insurer to reimburse you if your trip is canceled because of illness or death. It won’t matter if these situations relate to you or a relative. The policy also provides for the unlikely possibility of the vacation charter company going out of business.

In addition to travel insurance, it is important to consider a number of health care issues before traveling abroad. You will be required to schedule the appropriate precautionary shots in a medical clinic when going abroad on a vacation. It is also a good idea to call your health plan provider and get information in writing on how to handle medical care overseas.

As always, you should be sure to pack a first aid kit complete with antibacterial creams, bandages, a thermometer, and other emergency supplies. If you are currently taking medication, be sure that you carry more than enough to ensure that you will not run out while you are away. It can also be useful to carry prescription slips that are written in Latin, bearing generic names.

Your credit card may provide some protection for you, aside from travel insurance. One example is people who choose to use their American Express for payment of their trip receive some coverage for things like car rental damage, lost baggage, roadside assistance, and even some injuries or death. For an additional fee, card holders can get coverage for missed flights, medical expenses, emergency evacuations and other circumstances.

By preparing carefully, one can head off numerous problems on a vacation. Read the fine print of the insurance policy that you decide to use. Insurance is there to help protect you while you travel overseas, but you should always double check what is included, and what isn’t.

Choosing the Proper Weight Loss Center

Have you recently decided that you would like to lose weight? If you have, you will find that you have a number of different options. For instance, you can casually decide to lose weight, develop your own structured weight loss program, join an online weight loss program, or you can become a member of a local weight loss center. Although each weight loss method is effective, you may be interested in joining a weight loss center.

If you have never been a member of a weight loss center before, you may be wondering about them. Weight loss centers are often used to describe local weight loss programs. When joining a weight loss center, you will likely attend weekly, biweekly, or monthly meetings at the “center,” location. Most weight loss centers require the payment of a monthly membership fee. Despite the possibility of a variance, these membership fees are often almost always affordable.

When looking for a weight loss center to become a member at, you should know that not all weight loss centers are the same. For instance, there are some weight loss centers that only host weekly, biweekly, or monthly meetings. These meetings are often used to record your weight, as well as socialize and communicate with others who are looking to lose weight, just like you. On the other hand, there are weight loss center that give you more membership benefits. These types of weight loss centers may have healthy eating cooking classes, instructional exercise classes, and a fully equipped fitness center for you to use.

If you are able to find a weight loss center that has an onsite fitness center or instructional classes, whether they be for eating or exercising, you are urged to further examine the weight loss center. Yes, the membership fees for these types of weight loss centers may be a little bit higher, but they are well worth it. In fact, those who join weight loss centers that have instructional classes or onsite gyms often report better results. This is because you often feel more motivated to exercise and eat healthy and you also get support from other hopeful weight loss losers at the same time as well.

If you are interested in joining a weight loss center, the first thing that you should do is familiarize yourself with all of your options. This may include asking those that you know, like friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors, or your doctor, for recommendations, using the internet, or your local phone book. Once you have the contact information for a number of local weight loss centers, you can do a little bit of research or comparison. What you will want to do is examine all of the membership benefits that you are given, like access to healthy recipes, food journals, access to an onsite gym, and so forth. Then, you will want to compare membership fees.

If you live in a larger city or town, there is a good chance that you will find at least two weight loss centers for you to join. That is why it is important that you take the time to examine and compare all of your options. Yes, any weight loss center is better than no weight loss center, but you should take the time to find the weight loss center that is the perfect match for you and your own personal needs. Doing so may result in you achieving your weight loss goal and in a fun and exciting way. Good Luck and Good Health…..Brad L. Ohm
